There is no united Hindu Nation and there will be never a Hindu Nation. Hindus are never united as Hindus they have four Varunas, 100000 Gods, 100000 Castes, 1000 languages. They never identified themselves as Hindus. The Sankaracharya never taught his Hindu Dharma to all Indian, he taught only to Brahmans. Even the four Hindu mats were independent and they do not follow each other. The South Indian Brahmans never accepted the superiority of North Indian Brahmans. They do not marry each other and they do not connect to each other. They were never united with single rituals, ceremonies and chanting.  If at all the Indians have any cultural unity it was due to Buddha and Asoka. It was Buddha who imagined the unity of India first time in Indian History. He had four dreams before he attained enlightenment. One of the dream was that all people were coming to him to learn Dhamma by giving up their color and racial differences. There was another dream he had that he was laying down on the Indian sub-continent (including Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka). This dream was the imagination of unity of India. The political unity of India took place in Indian history only at the time of Asoka. At the time of Asoka, people of India from North to South and East to West spoke Pali. Hence, it is historical truth that there was a linguistic unity, which is the base for cultural unity among Indians only at the time of Asoka. The political and cultural India was not creation of Brahmans or Hindus before British, but the Sakyans (Buddhists).  There is no parallel one in Hindu society as Buddha or Asoka who spread their ideas and power across the sub-continent without excluding any race, gender, community, caste, varuna etc.
