Let us discard Shudra propaganda of Ravana and Mahidhaasura stories which has no truth. All these Puranic stories were written to hide the real truth. The real history of Dasara is the removal of ten fetters and acquiring ten Buddha qualities (das paramitas). This is the day, Buddha started his Dhamma wheel and taught Dhamma to his first disciples. The Dhamma Chakka  pavattana sutta discourse was delivered on this day. Similarly the Asoka realized the Dhamma and revived Dhamma. Babasheb B.R. Ambedkar selected this historical day as Dekasha (initiation) day.

இந்து சூதிரகளுக்கு கருவரையில் நுழைய உரிமை வேண்டும் என்று சொல்லுவது நியாயம் தானே. ஆனால் இந்துக்கள் அல்லாத எங்களுக்கு எதுக்கு கோயில் நுழைவு.
